Show Us Where you Live Friday: Our Dining Room
Well, I'm just going to jump right into blogging and do 2 posts in one day! Holy cow, this is so fun!!
I've been tuning in (read lurking) every recent Friday when Kelly over at Kelly's Korner Blog hosts her "Show us Where You Live" room tour event (each Friday is a new room and you post photos of your room to share with others). What great inspiration...I could spend all day browsing through everyone's homes. So today I thought I might as well join in:) Today at Kelly's is all about Dining Rooms.
Our dining room is such a work in progress. We started by repainting it and buying a dining set right after we moved in because we were going host Thanksgiving that year for the first time (with both sets of families)! Its now 2 years later and we haven't gotten very much more done:(
Here's what the room looked like when we moved in. I love the architectural details...the crown molding, chair rail and the 2 french doors.
We went with 2 light grays from Valspar (Polar Star and Gravity) on the walls...both colors are right next to each other on the paint swatch and we put the darker one on the bottom.
We've since switched out the lighting...P and I were both really attracted to this linear chandelier (Grant) with fabric shades and oil-rubbed bronze finish from Pottery Barn.
And added some wall art.
(These are photos I took on a recent trip to Italy. My sister and I hit up Rome this past fall, it was beautiful! I framed them with white frames and mats to keep the room light and the focus on the photos.)
I want this room to be soft and light with a palette of grays, browns, creams, whites and maybe some pale blue. We still need an area rug and window treatments. I'd like to get 2 patterned fabric parsons chairs for the ends of the table. And now I'm on a hunt to find an old side table/buffet/hutch type thing and refinish/paint it. Phew! Lots to do in this room, but we love having family gatherings here:)
Thanks for hosting, Kelly! I'm really excited to be part of this awesome blogging community now!
Looks beautiful! The photos add a nice personal touch.

ReplyDeleteI love that lighting fixture. I WANT IT!!
ReplyDeleteI love it that you framed your own photos- I do that, too!
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I wish I could have seen these pictures 2 months ago. We recently painted our dining room the same way, and I had a helluva time convincing my husband that 2-tone gray would look good. We have good taste! :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dining room! The photos are a gorgeous personal touch and I love the colors and light fixture too! Great job. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful room! I love the chandelier and the tree print you having hanging in there. So pretty!
