The Nursery: Bedding
Speaking of bedding (I just announced the next Mood Board Monday, scheduled for Monday, June 28th..we're all going to be doing bedrooms, click here to see the inspirational bedding), want to see the crib set for BG's nursery?
Back before we knew the sex of our little one, I decided that either way I wanted to paint the walls of the nursery a soft blue. So once we found out it was a girl, I set out to find crib bedding that would work with blue but still be a bit girly. I didn't want anything "themey" or with cartoon characters on it...I just wanted something with a mix of patterns. To be honest, I also wanted it to come from somewhere that I could register from...I like the idea of this important part of the room being a gift from someone close to us and hey, that way I don't have to pay for it:)
After lots of searching Overstock, Babies-R-Us and all the other baby bedding sites (yes, even etsy), I found my way back to Pottery Barn Kids and the Sophie Nursery Bedding.
I made sure to go into the store and check out in person (brought along a ton of paint swatches too) and then decided this was it! I love the polka dots with the stripes and the floral. I like that it has a variety of colors in it that I can pull from. I like that its light and airy.
Now all we need is for for someone to hopefully get it for us:) So although the rooms shown here feature the bedding in a mostly pink environment, picture it in a room with blue walls. And pops of pink (and green) as the accent color. What do you think?
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go watch the season premier of the new Design Star!!! Can't wait! Who's with me?

Very cute! I really like it and am excited to see what it looks like with the blue.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'm actually watching Design Star right now. :)
I think that will be beautiful! I like the idea of just having patterns and colors fill the room, instead of restricting yourself to one single theme.
ReplyDeletePerfect. Love the dots! And the bits of floral make it just girly enough while the blue walls will keep it all from being too sticky-sweet. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteThat bedding will work perfectly with blue walls. I'm the same way - having a girl but didn't want too girly of a room so we're going with green walls with a few different shades of blues and greens throughout the room. I've also found myself drawn to flower prints - something I never thought I'd like!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Design Star. So excited it's back on! Now I have something to watch this summer!
We are like the same person! I am doing a aqua blue in our nursery & getting our bedding from PBK too!! LI love how their stuff is not themey. Love your choice - very cute!
ReplyDeletethis is the bedding I have had picked out for a little girl during my lasr 2 pregnancies... I have yet gotten a chance to purchase it seeing I have all boys! I think it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat pick; I love the polka dots -- and I love that you're picking out the pale slate blue for the wall color. It's gonna look fantastic!
ReplyDelete{And I've got the new Design Star sitting in my DVR...can't wait to watch it this week!}
Cute choice and I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve with this nursery! =)
ReplyDeletevery cute and definitely versatile! good choice!
ReplyDeleteI love that bedding! So cute and who wouldn't want to get it for you! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the mix of patterns of this bedding. I totally agree with you about staying away from a theme. Can't wait to see everything come together.
ReplyDeleteThe bedding is adorable! I love the colors and the idea of bringing out the blue in the pattern.
ReplyDeleteYou should totally get these pajamas for your new baby girl to wear once it gets cold:

Thanks so much, guys! I'm so glad you like it. We actually started painting a few days ago...I feel so relieved to actually be getting something done in this room....yay!
ReplyDeleteJen J. - great minds think alike!! Is that the PBK bedding with the chocolate brown and tiffany blue in it and kind of like threads of ribbon? So pretty! That was my second choice;)
Oh no, Megan!!! All boys and no chance to use pink!!! We can live vicariously through each other!
Hi Sarah, I love the Sophie collection! I don't know if you remember but I was torn between that one and the Katie collection which is the one I ended up going with. I can't wait to see your nursery, it is going to look amazing!

It's adorable. This reminds me of my daugher's nursery. Her room is also in polka dots and some of the "dots" are lady bugs in a brown and pink theme. Her bed skirt is striped. I added some light blue accents to the room and some of the crib sheets are floral. It looks great! I really like "no theme." My son, who is 6 now has a theme in his room b/c he really wanted it. It's really annoying!
