Sarah's House
No, not me, silly! Sarah Richardson! (Remember her from the show "design inc."?) Has anyone else been watching this show on HGTV? It's on Saturday nights at 8:30pm, right after Divine Design.
I really like it, even though I've only caught 3 episodes so far. (After reading a bit of the website, I guess this is the second season of the show, but I don't remember ever seeing it before this. Maybe it was only airing in Canada then?) Anyways, the show follows designer Sarah Richardson as she buys a house (a "swinging 60s back-split in dire need of an update") and renovates it on a budget ($108,000 for the whole place I think) with the help of her team - Tommy, her design side-kick and Vito, her contractor.
So far I've watched Sarah move a wall and redo a room for her nursery, create a home office, convert some space in the basement into a beautiful guest room, completely redo the basement laundry room and add a good looking storage room. Here's some before and after pics from these 3 episodes. (Check out the hgtv website for each episode to see the paint colors used, sources for furniture and decor, and contact info for any artists or contractors she worked with).

Pretty cool, right? I'm going to have to go back and watch all the episodes I've missed...either try to catch them on HGTV or watch them online here...because I definitely want to see how the rest of the house comes along. And I'm going to have check out "Sarah's Cottage" about creating her weekend country getaway. Fun! Any other Sarah (or Tommy) fans out there?

I don't have a TV, so I haven't watched it before, but I LOVE the rooms you showed. I am definitely going to check it out on HGTV.com !!!
ReplyDeleteI love this show! I want to be her, from her design sense to her haircut and stylish footwear! Tommy cracks me up!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love it too! I DVR it and save it for a quiet night with a cup of tea and a cuddly blanket. It's my alone time show. ;) The last season of it aired on FLN. I don't know it you can find much about it, but it was on there. ;)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely love this show! Who doesn't love a before & after like that?? I'm in the same boat though.. I'm going to have to go back and watch old episodes! (hi, by the way! It's been forever since I've been over here, but the schedule's slowly getting better, thank goodness!)
ReplyDeleteI never saw this show either! I will have to go to the website and catch up! I've gotten a little tired of "Property Virgins" every time I tune in! Divime Design and this-I like!

I am obsessed with this show! I'm so excited for season 3 this March. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm also in love with her laundry roon. It is so bright and cheerful – I want it!
As for season 1, I don't think it started on HGTV – I think it started on the Fine Living Network. FLN has been showing season 1 on Saturdays. :)
I love this series!! Loved Design Inc., and don't miss an episode of this. The first of these series aired last year, I think that series was shown on Fine Living. Even my daughter loves this show and has to sit right next to me, the whole time commenting. FUN! Janell
ReplyDeleteI love Sarah's House (the first season you can catch on weekends on FLN if you get that channel, but it's a bit different as her budget is WAY bigger -- $300k, I think). Of these rooms, the laundry room (hello!!) and the study are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteOh, so glad you guys are with me on this!!!
ReplyDeleteCaroline - wow, no tv!!!! you are a strong person! you should def. watch online:)
Tricia - me too!!!! I tivo/dvr a ton of design shows and watch them when I need a treat or Paul is out of town. I totally should have set up a season pass on Sarah's House, doh!
Season 1 is on the Fine Living Network? Uhm, is it terrible that I didn't even know that channel existed? Thanks!!!!
I love this show too! I am a few episodes behind (thank goodness for DVR), but I haven't seen a room that I haven't wanted to move into yet. In fact, I usually blog about how much I am obsessed with her makeovers after watching the show. I am also a big fan of her clothes!
ReplyDeleteI watch, I watch! I really like it and I also checked out her website. I am really disappointed that her furniture is only available in Canada. I think Canada has a lot of great designers. I ordered a subscription to Canadian House and Home...it was pretty expensive so I hope it is good. I have not received it yet, but I love their website for inspiration. I am really into gray for some reason and they seem to use it in their designs a lot. I love your blog by the way:)
ReplyDeleteI happened to catch the guest room makeover and the laundry makeover both by accident but I took note last week of when it was on as to not miss another episode. I think it said the family room is next on the schedule. Love how she's decorating it all!

I'm such a SR fan! I love that show. I dvr it on the weekends on Fine Living. I think it's new to HGTV. The third season is coming in march and looks to be amazing. I haven't been able to find Sarah's cottage though...
ReplyDeleteI caught Sarah's house...I am going to check for this one and set up the DVR. I love to indulge in these when my husband is travelling!
ReplyDeleteSarah Richardson makes me so happy! Definitely check out Sarah's Cottage. I blogged about it here: living-lucky.blogspot.com/2009/05/sad-day.html
ReplyDeleteI love this show and her sidekick. But, I didn't understand the Carerra Marble in the Laundry Room.
ReplyDeleteWow! She is amazing. I haven't seen the show, but now I really want too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had that budget and my own carpenter. :) She does have awesome style. Totally love love love the nursery.
ReplyDeleteI love that show too although I've only seen a few episodes. I like her style too.
ReplyDeleteI watched the very first one, but haven't seen any of the others. I'll have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteHer laundry is fantastic!

I am a major SR and Tommy fan, I watch and record every episode, I actually have one protected of the house in the country she did for Karen, it is my dream house, Total perfection!! Kathysue
ReplyDeleteHadn't yet seen the episode(s) that covered the basement areas. Wow, they look great. Thanks for the reminder to get caught up. Love pretty much everything she does.
ReplyDeleteYes! Love Sarah! Love the show! Not sure if this house was first or not, but she also did another house. It was in more of an Urban setting and was a bit older, I think. Presented a few more challenges. But she finished it up in her fabulous "Sarah Style".
ReplyDeleteHi I live in Canada and Sarah Richardson is truly one of the best. If you like the second season of Sarahs House you will truly love the first season. That house was bigger and the budget was outrageous..Also last year they had a special Sarah's Cottage where she did her own cottage on a island in northern ontario. That was just amazing. You can find all her episodes online at hgtv.ca this is the canadaian site.
ReplyDeleteOMG, I love this show! Obsessed with Sarah Richardson! I have seen all the shows you mentioned and just saw that there's one on my DVR where she does the backyard! Can't wait to get a free moment alone to watch it without interruption! I also DVR Design, Inc of course. :)
ReplyDeleteI just caught the nursery show this past Saturday. SR is my favorite, and she looks so cute pregnant! I need to TiVo it!
