Exciting News!!
Hi! I've been waiting to tell you guys this, but I think its ok now. We have some exciting news...Paul and I are expecting our first baby!!!!!!! ****insert happy dance here****
Woo hoo! We are currently 16 weeks 5 days along, due September 9th. We've been waiting almost 3 years for this (including one earlier miscarriage) and we had to have help to get here (if anyone has questions, let me know). We will probably not stop worrying if everything is alright "in there" until the little one actually pops out, and then we'll have to start worrying about a whole new set of things! But for now, things are going along really well and we are extremely thankful, super psyched, scared, nervous and hopeful:)
Because we like to make fun of each other and try to guess which traits this child might inherit from each of us (P insists that he/she will end up a "nerd" like me!!!) and what's a good post without some pics, here's Paul and I when we were kids:
So, this is my excuse for not updating the blog as much lately! Sorry! I just can not stay up as late at night like I use to, which was when I got a lot of my extra work done.
Any advice for an expectant mother? Is anyone else out there expecting (congrats)? Struggling with infertility? Thanks for just being here to share in the good news:)

{I'm on the right, my sister Laura on the left...nice fountain hair!}
{that's Paul...the one in the middle - no glasses - poking out from behind his sister...don't mind her funny faces or knobby knees, she'll kill me if she knew I was posting this on the internet!!!}

ReplyDeleteCongrats!! How exciting! I have no advice - I'm a long way from being a mother (or a wife) but I'm hoping some people will be more knowledgeable than me and can help you out!
ReplyDeleteCute pictures!
Hey Sarah! Wow! What exciting news....congratulations to you and Paul. Are you already brainstorming nursery ideas along with baby announcements? Can't wait to see how they both turn out. I've been checking the blog but haven't really commented much....things have been crazy busy lately. I've meant to send an e-mail as well and it just hasn't happened. I'm so glad your doing well.

If you are interested, I have the story of my son's birth on my blog.
Congrats again!! = )
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI saw you over on the Sept 2010 boards on the Bump, and wasn't sure if you had shared the news publicly yet, so I didn't say anything :)
We're expecting again... September 18th, that's why I was there ;)

Congrats!!! As a new mom of a 3 month old, my advice is......take others advice with a grain of salt. Every pregnancy is differnet, every baby is different (ie, some babies love to be swaddled, others hate it), you'll need some baby gear, and some you will never use. Just do what works for you. The one thing I wish someone had told me about before having my son, or very shortly after is that breastfeeding is HARD (latching, supply, nipple soreness, etc) and lactation consultants are amazing! Happy and Healthy 9 months to you!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS, that's so exciting. I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and due Sept 7th, what a great month to have a cute cuddly new little baby in don't you think :) I'll pray you have a happy healthy baby and a great pregnancy. Oh and Easter candy taste amazing when you're prego so eat lots of it
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I just gave birth to my 3rd son 6 days ago! It's a blast... some sleepless nights but it's all worth it! Just sleep when the baby sleeps and you'll be fine! Hope everything goes smoothly for you guys!... The Moses basket is great, baby can go anywhere you do in the house without having to transport him/her into a new bed when they are sleeping through the day. Just pick up the basket and carry it to the next room you go into without them waking up! Congratulations again!

ReplyDeletewow, congratulations!! how exciting! people will say this to you... "soak up every moment, it goes by so fast" but it is so true! enjoy every minute, even the sleep deprived ones! ;)

Congrats! "officially"
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you guys! My husband and I have been struggling to get pregnant for almost 3 years now and have had a couple miscarriages. it is soooo hard! I am happy for you though- do you mind telling how you got pregnant after years of trying? We've had some help and no luck! No answers either!! :(
ReplyDeleteI'm SO excited for you! I really hope you'll post pictures and tell us about your life as a mom on your blog. Pretty please! =)
ReplyDeleteI struggled to have my first child but with my second it happened rather quickly! (oops)
ReplyDeleteYou'll do great!
And I like the comment about the baby things you need/don't need but want. I know it is tempting to register for 'everything under the sun' for baby #1, but I would try to concentrate on the main things, diapers/wipes (I wanted and got stocks of them-LOVE), and leave out the little things like nail clippers, brush sets, wash clothes, etc. Make sense? Also, when we registered for the big items (stroller, crib set, pack'nplay, etc), we picked neutral colors b/c we knew we would want #2 and wanted it to be reusable. Just didn't know it would be used so soon. *wink*
Email me if you have any questions.

Yikes---forgot...CONGRATS!
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering when you were gonna make the big announcement! I believe I paged you on TN before, but we are expecting after dealing with IF as well, which is also why I haven't been blogging as much. I'm not quite out yet on my blog, but expect to make the announcement in the next few weeks. Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! Thank you so much, everyone, for your heartfelt wishes!!! It is truly amazing the support of your online friends that you have never met in real life!!! I can not tell how happy it makes me to read all your comments, thank you, thank you!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the other expecting moms out there! And thanks for all your advice:)
Probably most of the baby talk on here will be about the nursery, but if it doesn't bore you too much, maybe I'll post some other stuff about how things are going.
Silly, Holly, no belly pics! I save those for thebump.com:)
Congratulations! :*)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! (BTW-- I'm a new blogger and love love love your blog!) I'm a mother of a 16-month-old. My best advice: get the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD by Harvey Karp (there's a book, too)... everyone told me to watch it, and it's awesome... and everyone I've passed it along to loves it, too. I probably watched it 5 times! Enjoy your pregnancy!
ReplyDelete:)

Such wonderful news! Congratulations to you both! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you've got planned for the nursery- I'm sure it will be fantastic!
OH MY GOSH, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't be happier for you!!! How exciting!! H&H 9 months! :)
ReplyDeleteYAY! congrats and best wishes for a healthy and happy 2 and 3rd trimester. As a mother of a 10mth old and 3 yr old, I would say my best piece of advice is get the book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Dr. Weissbluth. It helped us big time with our first child, my only regret was not getting this book before our first child was born so to be prepared more.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I look forward to reading your blog as you embark on this journey of parenthood. It's a wonderful adventure. congrats again!
Congratulations! I'm a newish reader and love your blog =) The best advice I received when pregnant was to just enjoy this time...as tempting as it is to spend every minute planning for and thinking about and anticipating when your little one will be here, try to also enjoy the time until she/he arrives. Go out for dinner, have lazy weekend mornings, go to the movies, do a spa day...whatever they may be, do all of those things that you love to do just for yourself and as a couple. Best wishes for a healthy and fun pregnancy!
ReplyDeleteBest advice I can give you is DON'T listen to other people's advice! Every baby is different - you'll know what's right for yours. Oh, and get the Weissbluth book on sleep - it will keep you all happy. And don't discuss your name choices with people - their comments will only drive you nuts. Okay, maybe listen to SOME advice ;)
