grape + leaf

Remember this drawing I did for a custom invitation suite awhile back/a year ago? I forgot to share the final invitations, silly me:)

Jennifer and Josh got married over Labor Day weekend of 2010. When we talked on the phone they described their style as easy going and classic. They wanted their invitations, and their day, to be timeless, simple, elegant and fun. They were also in love with their venue, the The Hotel Northampton - a quaint, historic site with that quintessential downtown, main street vibe. The hotel became our jumping off point (along with their fresh color palette of dark purple and spring green) and my sketch ended up tucked neatly away inside this traditional oval at the top of the invite.

We also couldn't ignore the quirky fact that both their names begin with J, so a sort of mirrored monogram decorates the front of the pocket fold, which Jenn and Josh requested as a tidy way to present their guests with all the necessary details of the wedding weekend.

This type of pocket fold (the Linear A7 Enclosure from Paper Source) opens like a book or greeting card. Three inserts (Directions, Accommodations and the reply card and envelope) sit in the pocket on the right and the main invite is mounted on the left.

{pocket folds in Leaf and border in Grape cover weight, both from Paper Source}

Let's see how this unique pairing of grape and leaf translates to interiors, shall we? It can be surprisingly soft and pretty or bold and bright.

  2. You are so talented! I wish I knew you way back when I got married and needed invitations. Oh, and that 2nd photo with the panelling? Yeah, I want the walls in my foyer to look like that :) Maybe someday...
