Fall Vignettes: Mantel

Here's the last spot in our house that I decorate seasonally, the mantel.

I started out by hanging one of the pine cone garlands Maura and I made last Christmas.

Then added this wheat..uhm..thing that I made a long time ago based off Martha's tutorial (I just change out the ribbon to go with whatever I'm putting it with) paired with a couple of the fun, small gourds we got at the farm stand.

On the other side, another one of my vintage #13 mason jars filled with dried hydrangea sitting on
a couple of Hardy Boys books (nothing like consistency, huh?!) balances things out nicely.

For kicks, color and shape, I added a branch we found outside, as well as a couple of the acorns we collected.

And thus concludes this year's episode of fall around this Sarah's house. (Well, I have another little project I want to get to - did you see the cover of the new Country Living yet? - but we'll see if it happens.)

Hope everyone is having a good week so far!!

  1. I always love to see what you have cooked up for the seasons. And you've done it again my friend - it always looks so nice. Those acorns are so sweet - nature is a wonderful thing isn't it? And is that frame a chalkboard frame? Can you believe we're nearing Halloween and then Thanksgiving and then...yikes! Crazy!

  3. So beautiful Sarah! I really like your wheat bundle. I also love how the earth artwork, while not fall, per se, ties into the blue jar and really pulls the whole mantle together.

  4. I love that you use natural items in your decor. I need to start to use more natural stuff and less shiny stuff :)

  5. I thought I left a comment but now I don't see it... Odd! Anyway, I really love the pinecone garland you and Maura made. We collect pinecones on our walks and have about 30 of them in the basket of our stroller. :) Cameron would be so upset if I threw his collection away, lol! I think we will try this- such a cute and inexpensive decoration! As always, your vignette styling is amazing.

  6. Love the thoughtful vignettes you create for your home. The pinecone garland. It is beautiful in its primitiveness.

  7. Such a pretty vignette, Sarah. I love how all the found, natural elements work so effortlessly on your mantel. It might sound funny but I love the little pop of blue on the edges of the Hardy Boy books and how they tie into the art above the mantel.
