Lantern Lighting

Another thing on my to do list for the mini make-over for our foyer is to get new lighting. I definitely want to get a huge lantern for this space. I think it will help with that coastal, farmhouse, manor, cottage, don't know the correct word for it look that I'm loving lately. Here's some lanterns used beautifully by other bloggers, as well as some cool inspiration pics. Anyone loving this look as much as I am?

{so jealous of Jennifer's antique lantern she found...now hanging in her dining room}

{Lauren of pure style home has 2 of these lanterns in her newly renovated family room...one here and one over her desk...awesome!}

{love the iron lantern Janell of Isabella and Max Rooms added to her newly redesigned living room/office}

  6. Beautiful! I am such a fan of lanterns too. Not only is that last pic in my inspiration files but I have ANOTHER one for a living room inspiration that I just found. There is something about the simple marriage of glass and metal in a latern that causes me to swoon. :)

    Cheers~

  7. Count me in as a lantern lover! I have one! It's for my living room but it's still lying on the floor waiting for me to call an electrician. Aaah! Why does everything fun get sidetracked?!
    Don't forget to check vintage sources. I found mine in a cruddy little "antiques" shop in Bakersfield, CA.

  9. I love lanterns too. I wish I could replace some of my previous lighting choices but since it's only been 2 years and there are so many unfinished (unstarted even) projects, Russ wouldn't be too happy. lol Thanks for sharing such great pictures!

  10. I'm loving the lanterns too. I would love to replace my dining room lamp (that I currently HATE) with a beautiful lantern once I replace my horrible glass table that is driving me bonkers. All in good time ;)

    Love the eye candy!

  13. LOVE a big lantern. In fact, I just installed one in my master bath, but it has a more chinoiserie feel to it and less farmhouse. These are all gorgeous though and they make a wonderful statement.
