The Nursery: Ikea Hemnes
Hi! This is what we are currently working on in the nursery...assembling the 8 drawer Ikea Hemnes dresser in white that will also serve as our changing table. This thing has a ton of parts and the directions are hilarious, but so far so good. I actually only needed Paul's help for the bits where you have to lift the dresser on to its legs or rotate sides, etc. Right now I'm on step 24 of the assembly and I have to get to step 42 to have this puppy done. Can't wait to see how it looks in the room when its all completed!
As you can hopefully tell, we have made slight progress in this room...the walls are now Benjamin Moore Heaven on Earth instead of dirty cream. And we have our crib set up, though I haven't taken a picture of that for you yet.
Anybody else have anything from the Hemnes line?! Do you think the no words, just pictures Ikea directions are easy or hard? Hope you are all having a great day!
Can't wait to see the final product! I have no experience with putting IKEA furniture together, but I heard it can be tricky. Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteYou blog is so cute. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IKEA! Can't wait to see the finished dresser!!! The paint color is beautiful, your nursery is going to be amazing. I wouldn't expect anything less!!:)
ReplyDeleteMy friends got the very same dresser for their baby girl and I LOVE it. It's not only a beautiful piece of furniture but very functional. I think you'll really like it!
ReplyDeletewe have this dresser in our bedroom! giving me a great idea for later on :)
ReplyDeleteI have the same dresser (in black) in my son's room for his changing table/dresser. I have loved it. It's so solid and holds so much. We don't use it as a changing table anymore, as he just grew out of that stage, but it was PERFECT. I know it will serve him well for years to come. We're probably going to get him the twin bed from the same line when he's at that point!!
ReplyDeleteGirl we have similar taste!! We had the Hemnes dresser in bedroom and now it's in Bridget's room to double as a changing table. it's perfect!
ReplyDeleteAlso love the post on the flashcards. Will def. use that as inspiration!
Hi there...haven't stopped in in a while as I am 28 weeks and planning a cross country move at the moment. But, if it makes you feel better we have done NOTHING for our poor baby on the way. Love the direction your nursery is taking....I really need to order a crib and a glider ASAP. Enjoy the babymoon and drink lots of water :)
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog yesterday and I can't tell you how many times I've laughed at the line "and the directions are hilarious". If it's any consolation, I can halfway read the directions in Swedish(I was born in Norway), and they don't make any more sense there either.
ReplyDeleteI love this dresser and have been thinking about getting it for a while now.
Can't wait to see what else you've posted, I just stumbled on your blog and I love it so far!
That colour is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if you've been able to finish that dresser since you wrote this post. Ikea stuff takes us that long to put together.
We still have the Hemnes bookcase, tv stand, and cd tower in our basement (from when we had our apartment) and I actually still like them! They are in the honey finish, though, and I've thought many a time about painting them white. :)
Can't wait to see the dresser in the nursery!
I bought the same one, same color, same purpose!! about to open the box. Wish me luck!
