The Nursery: Progress Part V

Well, our little Maura Catherine is 6 weeks old (wow, time is flying!!) but I never finished sharing with you guys the pics of her nursery before she made her appearance:)

If you've been following along, you'll remember that I still had to frame and hang my 19th century hand-colored vintage botanical prints that I bought at the Brimfield Antique Show this year. I knew I wanted to put them above Maura's dresser/changing table. Here was that wall before the prints:

And after:

The prints are only 5 x 7, but I wanted to fill the wall and make them a definite focal point, so I chose large scale frames with a wide double mat.

At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep the actual frames black. I thought about painting them (white or maybe some sort of subtle green), but then once they were up I a) got lazy and b) liked how the black picked up on the dark knobs of the dresser and oil-rubbed bronze drapery rods. WDYT? Are they ok black?

I also changed the styling of the dresser and added my letterpress type that spells "play" (also from Brimfield) and updated the "Sneak Peak" frame with one of Maura's real ultrasounds.

I still have 2 more things I want to do in here before I am technically 100% done. Not sure how soon those will happen though. I still at some point want to do a big nursery post with all the pics and a source list. Stay tuned. Hope everyone had a great weekend:)

To see the rest of the nursery progress, check out the before pics here, and during here, here, here, and here.

  8. I really like the black frames w/the black knobs and I think the black make the prints pop more than if you'd used ligher frames.

  13. It's been so fun to watch this room progress, especially since we were pregnant at pretty much the same time! Everything looks wonderful. Enjoy little Maura!

  14. Thanks for showcasing the Hemnes as dresser/changing table. I think I'm sold. I haven't loved IKEA in the past for permanent furniture, but it's just so perfect looking and at the right price....
